ITN Visiting Scientist Program Requirements

Proposals:

Applicants for the ITN Visiting Scientist Program should submit a short (1-2 page) proposal to the ITN containing a basic outline of the proposed collaboration including goals, resources to be provided by the applicant, resources required from ITN, benchmarks, and an overall timeline.

Submissions should be emailed or mailed to:
Adam Asare, PhD
Executive Director, Bioinformatics
Immune Tolerance Network
7500 Old Georgetown Road, Suite 800 • Bethesda, MD 20814
Tel: 240.235.6149 • Fax: 240.235.6198 • aasare@immunetolerance.org

There is no deadline for submission of proposals. They are accepted throughout the year, with reviews taking place several times per year.

Review Process:

Proposal will be reviewed by the Network Executive Committee (NEC) at its next regularly scheduled meeting, generally within two months. The candidate may be requested to supply additional information in writing and/or in a review session, generally held as a conference call. Decisions are made based on scientific merit and rationale, clinical implications, feasibility, and resource availability, and are at the sole discretion of the NEC. Applicants will typically be notified of the results of the review process within 10 weeks of submission.

Minimum Requirements:

Time on site
The visiting scientist is expected to spend some time on site at the ITN's Bethesda, MD office. Total time on site of 2 weeks is preferred; however, ITN is not able to provide travel expenses, so this is negotiable for applicants not residing in the Washington metropolitan area.

Seminars
Two seminars will be conducted with the Bioinformatics group, one at an early stage and one at the conclusion of the work. One of these may be conducted remotely.

Progress Reports
A monthly progress report will be submitted to the Senior Director of Bioinformatics.

Manuscript Draft
A manuscript draft consistent with the proposal should be submitted to the Senior Director of Bioinformatics within six months from beginning of the appointment.
