ITN TrialShare is a clinical trials research web portal developed to aid researchers and study management teams in conducting trials, and to share information about the Immune Tolerance Network's clinical studies and bio-repository with the scientific community. Data and analysis code underlying ITN-published manuscripts are made publicly available via TrialShare. This allows published reports to be reproduced and enhanced with the goal of promoting transparency, scientific collaboration and more rapid advancement of the field.
The TrialShare project began in early 2011 when ITN decided to take on the challenge of becoming a leader in the movement towards clinical trial transparency. The first step was selecting a software platform on which to build the system. ITN soon decided on using an open source platform to both minimize costs and potentially allow others in the research community to benefit from ITN's work. Using the LabKey Server framework ITN released the beta version of TrialShare in early 2012, and the first version of the production system late that year.
